Support for Game Plan Athletes at UBC – Vancouver Campus:
UBC is the university of choice for many of Canada’s Olympians and Paralympians, boasting 30 athletes representing Canada at the most recent games in Rio 2016, the most out of any Canadian university. UBC is committed to supporting multi-talented athletes in achieving their sporting goals, while realizing their academic potential.
Our world-class training facilities are home to many national teams including Swimming Canada and both the women and men’s Field Hockey Canada teams. Greater Vancouver is the destination of choice for many National teams, as Soccer Canada and Volleyball Canada also centralize their programs in our city. We also partner closely with Rowing Canada, Soccer Canada, Rugby Canada and Water Polo Canada to create a supportive environment for their athletes.
Many athletes practicing individual sports thrive at UBC given the temperate climate, access to water sports, and 73 km of running trails in the UBC endowment lands (2160 acres).
The partnership with COC Game Plan reinforces the commitment of UBC to student excellence and desire to see students reach their maximum potential. Features of the partnership include:
UBC Specific Academic counselling through CSI Pacific Game Plan Advisor Candice Drouin
Early course registration to set your class schedules around your training
Access to peer tutoring
Access to weight training facilities, aquatic centre and hydrotherapy/recovery
A welcome to the community of athletes (630 varsity athletes), which includes a season pass to all Thunderbird games and student athlete handbook.
