Indigenous Canada Course - University of Alberta

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a federal statutory holiday created in response to . The day is dedicated to honouring Survivors, their families, and communities while ensuring that public commemoration of the devastating effects of residential schools remains a vital component of the ongoing reconciliation process. Our team hopes that Canadians across the country hold themselves accountable to actively learning about, supporting and celebrating the culture and contributions of Indigenous peoples, while continuing to reflect and take local action to reconcile the lasting impacts of the generational trauma they experience.

To encourage this action, we are extending our resources to cover the expense of the Indigenous Canada course certificate offered through the University of Alberta, for 10 Game Plan eligible athletes. This course can be completed for free as well, without the accreditation.

  • The IOC also has multiple resources available to support athletes, these include:

    • Code of Conduct – The IOC has recently launched the updated version of the Code of Conduct in line with the Make the Right Decision-campaign which is now available in 21 languages. You are welcome to download it at this link

    • Communication Campaign: The “Make the Right Decision”-campaign has been launched across Athlete365 social channels and recources can be accessed here: Make the Right Decision campaign toolkit – Athlete365 (olympics.com).
