Participate in a focus group to share your experiences in the amateur high-performance sport system across Canada, and complete the following survey about racial equity and inclusion in the sport system across Canada.

The survey is open now to aspiring, current and retired athletes involved in organized sport that includes a competitive focus. Click here to participate.

The focus group discussions will cover the barriers or challenges that racialized athletes have faced throughout their athletic journey, the factors that have contributed to their success, and what sport organizations can do to better support racialized athletes in competitive and high-performance sport.

  • Who? Aspiring, current or retired competitive racialized athletes in any sport. Must be 18 years old or older.

  • When? Between July and September 2024, specific dates to be communicated to interested participants. Each 90-minute focus group will be hosted virtually (on Zoom) with 4 to 6 athletes per group. Eligible participants will be financially compensated for participation in focus groups.

  • How? To participate, please contact Jennifer Coletti at [email protected]. Please use the subject line “REISS Focus Group Participant” and include your full name, sport, and current team or organizational affiliation (if applicable) in the body of the email if you’d like to participate in a focus group.

Canada’s Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) and Wasserman are supporting the Canadian Olympic Committee to carry out this important research. If you’d like to learn more about this project, please contact Veronica Allan (Research and Innovation Lead, SIRC) at [email protected].
